In fact, babies have a higher body temperature than adults and a more active basal metabolism , so they need to sweat more to regulate their body temperature.
Babies’ thermoregulatory center, which is part of the autonomic nervous system, is underdeveloped, so they cannot regulate their body temperature as well as adults. Until they are able to do so around the age of two, it is said that it is necessary to supplement a baby’s thermoregulatory function according to the temperature and other circumstances.
The head, forehead, back, palms, and soles of the feet are areas that tend to sweat easily in order to release heat. Infants have a high concentration of sweat glands, so they sweat two to three times more than adults. Leaving sweat unattended can lead to catching a cold or skin problems such as heat rash. Choose breathable clothing and baby products to take care of sweat frequently.
For babies who have difficulty regulating their body temperature, we use air-through seats in strollers and child seats. There are models of strollers that allow ventilation not only from the back, but also from the back of the base seat.
